What kind of people are we looking for?

We have 800 of Europe’s best pilots and we are always searching for more. We are looking for consummate, totally dedicated pilots who also understand how to take care of people. We want to work with pilots who are always learning and always getting better. If you are a captain with over 3,000 hours, our command programme can put you in the left seat in a reasonably short period of time. If you have 1,500+ hours, we’ll help you rediscover why you became a pilot in the first place.

What's being a pilot at NetJets like?

When you fly for NetJets, you actually get to fly the plane. In the course of a year, the average NetJets pilot will fly to 70 airports in 21 countries. That’s 148 city pairs. How many city pairs did you fly last year? We have 134 aircraft divided into eight fleets. You train on one aircraft and join that fleet. On each six-day tour, we will fly you commercially to meet your aircraft, and you will be paired with another pilot from your fleet. In other respects, we are run very much like an airline. You will always be backed up by our ultramodern 500-person operations centre in Lisbon that controls everything from flight operations to catering to ground transport.

Talk to me about pay and benefits.

Starting salary for a Captain is €95,000 and for a First Officer is €56,500. There are a variety of ways to supplement your salary with training responsibilities, optional extra duty days and crew profit sharing. We also offer private medical cover for your whole family. Complete details are listed here.

Is it true that I can live anywhere?

No, but it is close. We have 44 gateway cities in Europe. You may live within an hour’s drive of any of these cities. You may change your gateway city at any time.

Tell me a little about NetJets.

We are the largest, fastest-growing private airline in the world. NetJets Europe is backed by Berkshire Hathaway, one of America’s largest, most solid companies. We have 134 aircraft, and $2 billion in orders for additional planes. The average aircraft age is three years. Because we are growing at a rate of 25% a year, this is a place where you can build a career. Top-performing pilots may apply for a variety of training programmes and special assignments. This year 100 of our pilots will switch fleets – the way to experience flying brand new aircraft such as the Hawker 4000 and the Falcon 7X.

Where do you stand on safety?

NetJets has an absolute commitment to safety. We spend more on safety than many airlines and we fly to airline standards. We hold the IOSA certificate from the IATA. NetJets Europe is the only dedicated operator of business jets to hold this certification. Our pilots are type-rated on one type of aircraft so you are completely familiar with the aircraft you are flying. All our aircraft have state-of-the-art avionics and our pilots train for an average of 29 days per year, including 10 days on the simulator.

I want to know about the roster

NetJets flight deck crew work a 6/5 day roster, except the ultra-long-haul crews who work a mix of 7/6 and 6/5 day rosters. This is 200 working days per year for all pilots split into 50 working days per quarter, less annual vacation entitlement of 22 days.
